The purpose of this webpage is to provide parents of room 5a with daily
assignments and information regarding your child’s classroom during the school closure. Scholars will have daily assignments for ELA, Math, Writing, Social Studies and Science. All the content areas that we would be learning during our regular class time.  I hope you find this a valuable resource for your scholar.

  Good Morning and Happy Thursday! It's our last day of learning! Thank you all so much for your hard work! I am so thrilled I was able to be your teacher! Have a great summer!

Journal Topic 5/21/2020  Write about your summer plans! Give me all the details!  Write 3-5 sentences neatly! Please send me a photo of the completed writing!

Good News!! We have a four day week and then it is Summer! I have provided a virtual field week below! You can document what you are participating in on flipgrid or participate in our zoom meeting Tuesday! We will hold our zoom meeting on Tuesday at 11:30 am instead of Wednesday! Thursday will be our last day and then its Summer! Lets finish strong!!

Hello Parents and Scholars! I have created a flip grid page for our class! This is a fun way for us all to communicate and share our work! You can respond in a video by saying your name, and sharing two things with the class! To log in you need your scholars gmail which is firstname.lastname@lepacademy.com   passwords are their date of birth (mmddyyyy) If you have any questions at all let me know! There is also a tutorial video linked below. This is meant to be something fun for our scholars to interact and is NOT mandatory!

Writing

May 18th, 2020- (due) May 21st, 2020

For writing, we will be using Spelling City, IXL, and Read Works. Follow the same directions as you did for Language Arts and log into www.spellingcity.com,  Choose List 32. Writing will also be embedded in the IXL program and within the Read Works program. I will also be posting a daily journal topic here on my page. Scholars should be keeping a journal or notebook to write 3-5 good sentences each journal entry. They can also draw a picture to go with it. Make sure to check your child's penmanship.

SCIENCE/SOCIAL STUDIES

May 18th, 2020- (due) May 21st, 2020

Here are your child's Science and Social Studies assignments for this week. Each lesson can be found through the link below. Your scholar needs to log into www.studiesweekly.com and click either Science or Social Studies. Usernames and passwords have been given but, if you need them again you may chat with me here and I will resend them! Locate your lesson. The pages can be read to you. Some have videos that go with the lesson. Social Studies has comprehension questions at the end of each page. Your scholar has done this before and should be familiar with it. The test MUST be completed at the end of the lesson. This will be your child's grade. Message me with questions.

We will begin topic 11 on  Envision Math on the Pearson Realize website this week. The entire lesson will be linked to the website below at www.pearsonrealize.com. For each topic your child will complete on Pearson Realize:

  • Visual Learning (Watch instructional video)

  • Take Another Look (Watch instructional video)

  • Quick Check  (Submit for a grade)

  1. Due on Friday will be  11-6, 11-7, , Kahoot Challenge, Topic 11 TEST!  

    Be sure to SUBMIT all lessons and tests to get credit for your assignments. In addition, there will be You        Tube guided videos, the links are provided at the bottom of this page. 

    2. IXL Learning. Go to www.ixl.com.  Work through the Math skills recommended by me, your teacher! You will find the teacher suggested lessons in the upper right-hand corner by the yellow star. You should be working diligently through lessons for 20 minutes per day! New standards will be assigned each week. 

    3. Don't forget to also be working in I-Ready for math for at least 20 minutes per day. Log into

    www.i-ready.com select Math and Teacher assigned lessons. Work diligently for 20 minutes. 

MATH

Language Arts

May 18th, 2020- (due) May 21st, 2020

Our Language Arts learning will be done through 4 different websites called Spelling City www.spellingcity.comI-Ready www.i-ready.com, Read Works www.readworks.org, and www.ixl.com.  If you need any usernames or passwords at any time please chat with me here/email me or ask on bloomz app.   

  1. For Spelling City: Each week they will have a spelling list with 9 assignments. The 10th assignment being the test. The test can only be taken on Friday. The practice test can be taken multiple times, but the test can be taken only once. This week's assignments are found under List 32. If your child completes all the week's assignments early, they can play games that go with the learning or additional assignments to practice for Friday's test. 

  2. We have also adopted an exciting, new learning program. Scholars may log in at any time to www.ixl.com and the complete teacher suggested lessons or any other lessons. Teacher suggested lessons will be found in the upper right-hand corner next to the yellow star. Scholars should be working diligently in this program for at least 20 minutes per day. I will assign new standards every week. 

  3. www.i-ready.com Scholars should also be logging into I-ready for 20 minutes per day. Once logged in, scholars can select Reading and Teacher Assigned Lessons. I will be assigning new lessons every week.

  4. Read Works www.readworks.org!  Scholars will read informative, interesting articles while practicing their comprehension and building vocabulary. Assignments will be found on the website once they are logged in. To log in go to www.readworks.org/student  and enter our class code EBMUQD
